The DOE team is responsible for the data ecosystem within BlackRock. Our goal is to build and maintain a leading edge data platform that provides highly available, consistent data of the highest quality for all users of the platform, notably investors, operations teams and data scientists.
We focus on evolving our platform to deliver exponential scale to the firm, powering the future growth of Aladdin.

Our engineers design and build large scale data storage, computation and distribution systems. They partner with data and analytics experts to deliver high quality analytical and derived data to our consumers.

Responsibilities
Developers are expected to be involved from inception of projects, understand requirements, architect, develop, deploy, and maintain applications.
Typically, they work in a multi-disciplinary squad (we follow Agile!) which involves partnering with program and product managers to expand product offering based on business demands.
Design is an iterative process, whether for UX, services or infrastructure. Our goal is to drive up user engagement and adoption of the platform while constantly working towards modernizing and improving platform performance and scalability.
Deployment and maintenance require close interaction with various teams. This requires maintaining a positive and collaborative working relationship with teams within DOE and with the wider Aladdin developer community.
Production support for applications is usually required for issues that cannot be resolved by the operations team. Creative and inventive problem-solving skills for reduced turnaround times are highly valued.
Preparing user documentation to maintain both development and operations continuity is integral to the role. Adhering to BlackRock's UX and design standards is expected and contributing towards the upkeep of those standards is encouraged.
Desirable Skills
- BA / BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
- 0-2 years’ experience as a software engineer
- Robust object-oriented design pattern knowledge and implementation experience using Python.
- Experience with Python frameworks like Django, Flask and Pandas
- Experience working with large volumes of time series data and building services, APIs and applications based of it
- Experience in designing multi-tier application architecture and distributed caching solutions
- Strong understanding of data modeling techniques
- Experience working with relational / non-relational databases and understanding of storage technologies (like MySQL, Sybase, Snowflake, InfluxDB, Cassandra or HBase)
- Experience with dev ops tools like Git, Maven, Jenkins
- Experience with Agile development concepts and related tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Passion for learning and implementing new technologies
EarlyCareers
For New York City only : The salary range for this position is $111,625 $127,500. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits.

Administrative Business Partner
Responsibilities
- Manage daily calendars for five or more senior members of the team, demonstrating flexibility and problem-solving abilities to adjust or prioritize schedules based on last-minute changes.
- Arrange and reserve conference rooms, catering, audio / video and other crucial services as needed for meetings and conferences.
- Coordinate travel arrangements and submit expense reports in a timely manner using Concur.
- Anticipate necessary background material ensuring team members have everything they need in advance of their meetings including a detailed travel itinerary, air, hotel, cars, directions, presentation books, verified meeting addresses, contact information, etc.
- Drive key team activities and events (such as team meetings, strategy sessions, conferences, ordering supplies and social events).
- Assist with tracking client meetings, follow-up items and other metrics in excel and our CRM system.
- Manage tasks proactively and efficiently to ensure seamless coverage for all supported staff.
- Build and maintain good business relationships with executives and administrative staff across the organizations.
- Represent the team by greeting visitors and guests and answering multiple phone lines.
- Provide reciprocal coverage to other assistants.
Qualifications :
- 5+ years of administrative experience, preferably at a large global organization in the financial services industry.
- Ability to work independently and assume additional responsibilities as required.
- A positive and 'can-do' demeanor.
- Desire and ability to provide outstanding service to internal and external clients.
- Maintains focus with sense of urgency, while upholding respect for others.
- Proven ability to managepeting priorities and meet tight deadlines.
