Job Duties
- Analyzes and monitors budgets for compliance throughout the year, requests budget revisions.
- Monitors expenses and financial accounts.
- Performs account reconciliation and makes journal entries.
- Performs financial analysis and forecasts budgets; prepares routine and specialized financial reports.
- Interacts with all levels of personnel within the departments / division and other financial departments within the institution to resolve issues related to accounting transactions or reconciliation items.
- Assist with clearing out deficits, review and confirmation of payments and expenses, residual transfers, and closeout. Provides data to analyze department's cost of research and present to the department leadership.
- Meets with the Principal Investigators as needed to review research finance status.
- Oversees spending trends on post-award grant accounts to ensure that budgets are being adhered to and expenses are allowable.
- Meets with faculty as needed to proactively plan for spending and proper financial management of grant accounts including ensuring proper credits and debits have been applied to each account.
Prepares and reviews routine finance reports, or monthly or as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or a related field.
- Two years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Finance or a related field.
- Research Administration-Post Award experience.
- Great organizational and communication skills needed.
- Computer / spreadsheet savvy.

Instructor - Physician Assistant
Summary
This position offers a unique experience on our in-patient service lines for an individual who wishes to pursue a career in pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition.
The Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition in the Department of Pediatrics is a multidisciplinary team of attending gastroenterology and transplant hepatology physicians, post-doctoral fellows, and advanced practice providers dedicated to providing the highest quality of pediatric patient care to those suffering from gastrointestinal, liver, and nutritional disorders.
Currently, three gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition in-patient service lines care for 20 - 35 patients per day with a wide range of gastrointestinal, liver, and nutritional disorders including but not limited to : inflammatory bowel disease, short bowel syndrome / intestinal failure, gastrointestinal motility disorders, liver diseases, liver transplantation, and pancreas and bile duct abnormalities.
Management of nutritional support in the form of enteral tube feeding and parenteral nutrition is also provided. The service line also performs a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures.
The physician assistant / instructor will work alongside faculty colleagues, pediatric gastroenterology and transplant hepatology fellows, advanced practice providers, and occasionally pediatric residents to care for this pediatric patient population.
Job Purpose
Provides advanced patient care to patients in a clinical setting in an area of specialization under the direction of a physician.
Job Duties
- Obtain detailed history and perform physical examinations.
- Perform, order, and interpret diagnostic procedures in accordance with relevant health concerns of the patient.
- Prescribes appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments.
- Maintain records and write orders and progress notes in patient charts as to status, treatments, and procedures.
- Monitors and ensures accuracy of recording on patient medical records.
- Provide follow-up health maintenance care to patients in accordance with protocols established with the supervising physician.
- Communicate with physicians, patients, and the family members of patients concerning patient care.
- Collaborates with providers, and practice staff in identifying appropriate patients for care management.
- Perform other job related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
For Physician Assistant : Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies. NOTE : Bachelor's degree in Physician Assistant Studies accepted based on terminal degree requirements at time of graduation.
Certification / Licenses / Registration :
For Physician Assistant : Current license as a Physician Assistant by the State of Texas Physician Assistant Board. Specialty certification as required by department.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

Medical Social Worker
Summary
The Medical Social Worker provides patient outreach, education and counseling in one of eight Baylor Teen Health Clinic locations.
The candidate may also perform these functions in neighboring schools and community centers. The Medical Social Worker will develop relationships with school administration to insure they have awareness of our location(s) and services.
The candidate will practice therapy techniques around depression and anxiety, and educate patients on risky behaviors.
The Baylor Teen Health Clinic at Ben Taub Hospital currently provides pregnancy testing, family planning, sexually transmitted diseases (STD) and HIV / AIDS education and screening, primary healthcare, and case management services to teens, their partners, and adolescents in Harris County.
The clinics provide services to teens from the age of 13-24.
Job Duties
- Interviews clients and relatives to obtain social history relevant to medical problems and history.
- Assesses each client during initial contact.
- Documents progress after client visits.
- Enters additional information into other databases, such as HIV and STI results.
- Answers client calls and assesses need for services.
- Plans a course of treatment or refers clients to appropriate agencies and physicians.
- Conducts independent psychotherapies to assist patients in achieving positive psychological or social adjustments.
- Serves as a liaison between medical and nursing staff, clients, relatives and appropriate outside agencies.
- Arranges transportation for clients to appointments.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Counseling or in a related field.
- One year of relevant experience.
- Licensed Baccalaureate Social Worker (LBSW) or Licensed Master's Social Worker (LMSW) by the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners (TSBSWE).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Social Work from a school approved by the Council on Social Work Education.
- Licensed Master's Social Worker (LMSW).
- Experience with HIV positive patients.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
