Apply now! Staff Mechanical Engineer
As an Astranis Staff Mechanical Engineer you will own the complete lifecycle of various subsystems on our spacecraft. Whether itÄôs incremental improvements or the introduction of a new system, you will work together with the various other teams at Astranis to make them a reality.
In addition to being a significant individual contributor, you will mentor and train junior mechanical engineers. You must have a strong analytical background, hands-on testing skills, and experience working with spacecraft systems and or spacecraft components.
Role
- Complete ownership of product outcomes for spaceflight hardware
- Develop requirements for systems, subsystems, and components including loads, interfaces, and functional requirements
- Guide junior engineers in the mechanical design and analysis of complex assemblies to satisfy launch and on-orbit requirements
- Develop and define design best practices for future programs
- Manage system level schedule and integration requirements for your subsystems while working closely with the Production team to enable a smooth build process
- Assist in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring additional teammates to our rapidly growing team
Requirements
- B.S. or M.S. in mechanical engineering, or equivalent technical degree
- 12+ years experience
- Strong demonstrated experience implementing design for manufacturing
- Demonstrated ability to design, analyze, and procure complex mechanical assemblies
- A passion for hardware development, including working in a fast-paced environment and hands-on design and development
- US Citizenship or Green Card

- Experience performing structural dynamics analysis on complex aerospace systems

Apply now! Internships at Astranis typically last for twelve weeks, and are hourly roles designed for students who are currently enrolled at a four-year university.
As an Intern, you will have an amazing opportunity to work on hard problems we pride ourselves on giving everyone at Astranis a chance to do meaningful work on challenging projects, no matter their seniority.
Many past interns have designed and tested hardware / software that is heading to space on our first satellite, and many of them are now full-time employees at Astranis.

Role :
Work with the engineering team to design, write and test software (embedded software running on satellites, as well as variety of ground control and testing software)
Requirements :
- Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or equivalent technical degree
- Experience with C / C++ and scripting language(s)
- Demonstrated ability to personally design, write, and test software from scratch
- US Citizenship or Green Card
- 40 hours per week minimum
- Must be onsite in San Francisco 3 days a week minimum
