Custodian
Position Summary
The position is responsible for custodial duties to assure a clean, safe, building environment with a high appearance level. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain regular attendance.
- Clean and keep entire restrooms at a high appearance level including, toilets, sinks, mirrors, windows, floors, trash containers, walls, and replenishing restroom supplies, and other areas as identified.
- Clean and maintain the museum at a high appearance level, including galleries, lobbies, and other areas as identified.
- Vacuum and maintain offices, lounges, and other departments as assigned.
- Remove snow from museum entrances, emergency sidewalks, and exits.
- Perform special projects for exhibitions, school groups, and special events including floor care and set ups.
- Comply with museum green cleaning standards and procedures.
- Comply with OSHA requirements.
- Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment.
- Complete all routine, ongoing duties and assigned tasks in a professional and timely manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of safety training virtually or in person, including, but not limited to : Asbestos Awareness, Hazard Communications, Fire Safety / Extinguisher Use, Personal Protective Equipment, Ladder and Aerial Lift, Back Injury Prevention and Hearing Conservation.
- Follow detailed instructions and communicate verbally and in writing according to department standards.
- Must be able to work in a diverse and inclusive atmosphere.
- Must be able to communicate effectively and appropriately, as well as exhibit patience and understanding when engaging with internal and external customers.
Physical Requirements
- Regular lifting of up to 25 pounds when restocking supplies and 55 pounds when moving furniture, heavy equipment and boxes.
- Long periods walking, squatting, and kneeling.
- General duties include; standing, walking, bending and reaching when performing various assignments as well as operating all related equipment.
- Stretching and reaching overhead and below the waist.
- Climbing stairs, and ladders.
- Using / wearing Personal Protective Equipment as required including, but not limited to, respirators, protective footwear and eyewear.

Hospitality Representative
Position Summary
Serve as a hospitality ambassador of the Museum, creating a friendly, welcoming environment and consistently providing exceptional service to all guests while supporting exhibitions, events, and other responsibilities that enhance the visitor experience.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities :
- Provides a warm, welcoming greeting, is friendly and approachable, and resolves conflict in a professional and courteous manner.
- Effectively and accurately provides information to guests regarding museum policies, exhibits, collections, special events and programs.
- Assists with guest wayfinding, museum / gallery capacity management, directing guests throughout the museum, and other responsibilities as needed.
Provides coverage for special events and programs outside of normal museum operating hours as needed.
- Provides support by conducting daily walkthroughs of galleries and other public areas to assist in identifying and executing improvements to enhance the guest experience.
- Operates virtual queuing software, helping to manage visitor capacity in certain exhibits and ensuring a smooth experience for guests.
- Must participate in and reinforce an enjoyable and inclusive work environment and team culture with colleagues.
- Takes initiative to assist other MVE colleagues as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
An equivalent amount of training, education, and experience will be considered.
Minimum of one year of customer service experience is required. Experience in hospitality or tourist attractions preferred.
Must enjoy working with the public.
- Must have a basic knowledge of customer service best practices and possess excellent communication skills.
- Ability to read, write, and effectively communicate with visitors, peers, and management.
- Willingness to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, and before or after hours as needed.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and interface effectively with visitors in both conveying information and listening to questions / concerns.
- Ability to make objective decisions using sound judgment.
- Be well-organized and thorough with close attention to detail and follow-through.
- General mobility, including frequent movement throughout the museum, including kneeling, bending, and lifting up to thirty pounds.
- Develop a working knowledge of the art in the permanent collection.

Audio Visual Technician - Freelance
Position Summary
- Operates and provides technical support for all audio visual equipment for all museum programs and functions.
- Provides basic audio visual services to the museum including delivery, set up and operation of various audio visual equipment for lectures, seminars and other events.
This includes slide projectors, dissolve units, light boards, lights, sound boards, microphones, amplifiers, speakers, television monitors, VCRs, 16 mm projectors, video projectors, computers, cassette decks, CD players, and other audio-visual related devices
Position Reports to : Director, AV Solutions
Qualifications
- Must have experience and knowledge to setup and operate A-V equipment for presentation of video, computer / data projection, and sound reinforcement.
- Some basic theatrical stage lighting experience required.
- Must be responsible, dependable and possess good people skills.
