Summary

The Flight Ops Instructor Ground (FOI-G) is the initial instructor position in AmeriJet International Airlines Flight Operations Training Department.

Becoming a FOI-G is the proven path to becoming an Amerijet International First Officer, Flight Instructor, Captain and leader.

Essential duties and responsibilities

Include the following, but not limited to :

  • Primary ground instructor for pilot initial new hire basic indoctrination training in the classroom environment.
  • Provide support, facilitation, and instruction for ground training courses for pilots
  • Facilitate courses including general subjects, pilot indoctrination, performance, and aircraft systems, in both a classroom setting and utilizing flight training devices such as a Virtual Procedures Trainer (VPT) or Flight Training Device (FTD)
  • Develops and maintains lesson plans, instructor guides, and curriculum for classroom, home based, and computer based training
  • Administrates computer based training to ensure the training is adequate for the type training for which they are used
  • Perform administrative duties to include but not limited to : 1) Developing, administering and grading exams; 2) producing accurate and complete rosters and training records
  • Coordinate with other company trainers on standardized information
  • Professional development and other related duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • College Degree
  • Boeing 757 & 767 knowledge and experience or type rating preferred
  • ETOPS and International operations experience preferred
  • Experience in curriculum design for adult learning preferred

Required Knowledge

Must have the appropriate knowledge, experience, training, and demonstrated ability to instruct crewmembers or aircraft dispatchers in curriculum segments other than flight training.

Required experience

At least one (1) year experience as an Instructor (CFI, Ground, Simulator, Evaluator or Examiner) in an accredited university flight training program or an approved part 121 or 135 training program.

Physical activities and requirements of this position

Must hold a current FAA Class I, or Class II Medical Certificate.

  • Physically and mentally demanding work environment with a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Knowledge and use of computers for weather briefs, email correspondence, and other information is important.
  • During a typical shift, you may rotate between teaching ground or conducting flight sessions when qualified as a Flight instructor.
  • Ability to work shifts as scheduled as well as additional hours including evenings, weekends and holidays

Travel

Must be able and willing to travel to domestic; sometimes requiring overnight stay’s for up to four weeks at a time.

POSITION SUMMARY :

This position is responsible for all facets of the preventive maintenance and repair of airplanes to ensure aircraft are airworthy and all technical aspects are documented properly.

Job Responsibilities include the following, but not limited to :

Performs tasks associated with traveling on the road with the aircraft to destinations where Amerijet may not have ample ground support.

This includes checks on aircraft maintenance logs, and responding to discrepancies entered in the logbook while on the roadtrip.

  • Performs routine and non-routine maintenance on aircraft.
  • References all Maintenance Manuals- Illustrated Parts Catalog, Structural Repair Manual, Component Maintenance Manuals, and the wiring diagrams to perform work on aircraft.
  • Completes required paperwork accurately using procedures set forth in the General Maintenance Manual (GMM).
  • Uses only approved and certified hardware, parts, and equipment to be installed or used on aircraft.
  • Maintains Amerijet facilities and equipment as directed by the Leadership team.
  • Upholds safety and security awareness of Team members and assets.
  • Obtains and maintains special qualifications such as Quality Control RII, Airworthiness release, taxi run up, CAT III authorization, and Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum (RVSM).
  • Assures that work is accomplished in the best workmanship manner and that an airworthy condition exists on all work performed by them.
  • Notifies their leader immediately of any condition that may arise that could present a problem of parts, materials, airworthiness or workmanship.
  • Has sufficient hand tools to perform his duties as required.
  • The licensed technician shall be responsible for the work of any unlicensed technician working with him.
  • The Director of Quality Control may delegate the licensed technician for the Clearing and Signing-Off of Items that were inspected by him.

The technician must assure that in clearing any item within the inspection category, he has not in any way performed or accomplished the subject work.

  • Technician may be required to instruct less experienced employees.
  • Technician Helper must be able to work all shifts including holidays and weekends.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

  • Becomes familiar with the Company policies, procedures, duties and responsibilities of the position and all subordinate maintenance staff as set forth in this General Maintenance Manual (GMM) and associated flight operations staff as set forth in the General Operations Manual.

Required Qualifications and Skills :

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma
  • Must hold a current and valid FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings
  • Must have GenFam certification (80hrs course)
  • Must maintain Amerijet qualification and authorization for Airworthiness Release
  • Two (2) years of experience working as an aircraft maintenance technician. Preferably Boeing 767 / 757 / 777 qualified with certification and training records.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver License and a driving record from the state of your primary residence that meets Amerijet’s insurance standards
  • Ability to drive tugs, trucks, taxi aircraft, lift trucks, snorkel lift, boom lift and tractor and / or other maintenance vehicles
  • Familiarity with accessing online aircraft manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to communicate effectively, in both oral and written communication
  • Ability to frequently crawl, bend, kneel, climb, stoop and work in confined spaces
  • Ability to work under pressure in a team environment
  • Ability to remain alert to moving vehicles, aircraft and situational awareness
  • Must be able to acquire and maintain a valid Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge
  • Depending on location, may need to acquire and maintain a United States Customs Clearance
  • Available for travel 100% of working time
  • Pass a ten (10) year background check, pre-employment drug test
  • Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

Supervisory Responsibilities :

This position will not have direct reports but may require providing training for new team members.

Language Skills :

The employee must possess good interpersonal and communications skills, be able to effectively work with others, respond to questions from managers and co-workers.

Physical Activities and Requirements of the Position :

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, frequently required walk, use hand to finger, handle or feel;

reach with hands and arms; climb and balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. Able to bend, twist, squat, and lift.

Must be able to work well under pressure and in extreme climatic conditions. This position may require traveling up to 100%.

Ability to lift and / or move up to 50 pounds without mechanical assistance; specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Able to access and work in all areas of the aircraft, including confined areas. Able to climb on ladders and platforms and work at heights up to fifty feet from the ground.

Exposed to high levels of noise, dust, vibration, and chemical fumes.

  • Works with computer and other office equipment
  • Obtains tools listed on the Minimum Tool List within thirty (30) days of employment
  • Operates lift trucks, snorkel lift, boom lift and tractor after attending training
  • Wears issued reflective safety vest, ear protection and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Ability to use handheld two-way radios, headsets and / or phone
