Job Description :

As a Biometric Technician (BT), you will be responsible for supporting the mission of a government program located in Albuquerque, NM.

This position works as a part of a dynamic team of professionals assisting the United States Citizenship and Immigration (USCIS) Application Support Center (ASC) operations.

Amentum provides all required job training for qualified candidates. This position is an on call (casual) team member.

On Call (causal) employees are expected to be available all five days, Monday through Friday from the hours of 7 : 45am to 4 : 15pm for substitute coverage as needed at the site.

This is not a regular Full Time or regular Part Time position; it is a Casual On-Call position. All efforts are made to notify On-Call personnel in advance of the site on call needs, however, occasionally employees are notified the night before or day of.

The On-Call position is a perfect fit for candidates with flexibility, seeking supplemental income and for those who still want to be active in a work environment without a committed schedule.

Primary Responsibilities are :

Complete biometrics registration for applicants seeking legal immigration to the United States.

Ensure all who enter the ASC are approved applicants and visitors while providing both interior and exterior crowd control and assisting the staff in enforcing the rules and policies of the ASCs.

Provide front-line customer service as representatives of Amentum and on behalf of the United States Government.

Highlights of Responsibilities :

It is expected that providing applicants with the highest level of customer service is primary in all responsibilities. This position must be able to work with the public, display a cheerful and inviting demeanor, smile, manage the applicants with sensitivity, courtesy and ensure the applicant is treated with respect as a customer of the USCIS ASC.

Further, personnel must safeguard all areas where Personal Identifiable Information (PII) is vulnerable such as applicant’s paperwork and identifications, electronic biometric data and reports.

Perform quality biometrics processing to include capturing electronic fingerprints, photographs, and signatures within established program-wide processing times.

Screen applicants entering the facility to ensure they have a valid appointment notice and identification allowing their entry into the ASC.

Utilize crowd control barriers (stanchions or rails) to ensure a safe and organized entry into the facility.

Visually inspect applicants and their belongings prior to allowing entry into the facility. During national pandemics or other health crisis, applicants may be asked questions about their status of illness and may be declined entry to the ASC per customer requirements.

Conducting periodic facility checks (both interior and exterior) reporting any concerns to the Site Supervisor to manage.

Assist the Site Supervisor and / or government Immigration Service Officer in calling local law enforcement or first responders when necessary.

Manage and complete with accuracy administrative paperwork such as tracking processing time for applicants, reconciliation paperwork of biometrics captured, assisting in maintaining a visitor control log for non-applicants entering the facility, signing off on facility checks and other administrative duties as needed.

Required Qualifications :

Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials / authorization. Note : US Citizenship is required for facility credentials / authorization at this work location.

A High School Diploma or equivalent.

Must be able to speak and write in English.

Ability to stand upright on one’s feet for scheduled shift duration, excluding meals and breaks.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands :

The work is performed primarily in the cockpit of a B737 aircraft, which is a small, cramped space subject to high noise levels, extreme temperatures, and low humidity.

The First Officer may be subject to physical and mental stress caused by in-flight emergencies, flying in inclement weather, exposure to high levels of noise, or other environmental discomforts.

A First Officer must be able to compartmentalize the stresses of their personal life so that they do not distract from the work.

  • Even routine flight operations require a high degree of focus and concentration; the ability to recall and apply a vast amount of diverse knowledge;
  • the ability to perform, in head without assistance, math calculations up to and including multiplication / division quickly and accurately in real time while traveling hundreds of miles per hour;
  • the ability to remember and initiate checklists at consistent points in flight; the ability to maintain situational awareness of the aircraft’s position, attitude and configuration while being bombarded by a variety of sensory clues;

and the ability to evaluate alternative courses of action and pick the best one for the given situation. While typically routine, the work can be punctuated by short periods of extremely high stress due to a myriad of conditions including but not limited to mechanical failure, bad weather, low fuel state, loss of pressurization, in-flight fire, temporary loss of or marginal control, impending ground or aircraft collision, etc.

During such periods, the First Officer must be able to evaluate alternatives, prioritize corrective tasks, and take appropriate actions while not succumbing to mental paralysis by fear or sensory overload in a literal do or die situation.

Minimum Requirements :

Must have a US DOT / FAA First Class Medical Certificate (with EKG if more than 39 years old).

Must have a US DOT / FAA Airline Transport Pilot certificate (ATP) or meet the requirements to complete an ATP Certification Training Program (CTP) in conjunction with a B737 Type course.

Must have 3,000 total hours as a pilot of crew and / or general aviation (GA) aircraft, or (discounted at 2 : 1 by) 1,500 total hours as a pilot of high-performance, single-pilot, military aircraft.

Only in-seat time logged as a pilot in fixed wing aircraft counts (specifically excludes simulator, helicopter, WSO, RIO, FE, NAV, EWO and UAV hours.

Time must be logged in accordance with FAA rules and no military conversion is allowed.

Must have, or be able to acquire, a US DOD TS / SCI security clearance.

Must have a valid US state-issued Driver’s License and, a current US Passport or valid US Birth Certificate.

Must be a US citizen (no dual-citizenship).

Must be willing to domicile in the Las Vegas, Nevada metropolitan area (no commute option).

Summary / General Description of Responsibilities

The incumbent performs installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy.

Essential Duties & Job Functions
