Summary :

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will handle the monitoring and maintenance of technical aspects of the assembly process, looking at a variety of metrics gathered throughout the process.

They will coordinate and integrate the assembly process, as well as analyze efficiency data and process flow. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer works with the manufacturing manager to ensure standards for manufacturing are maintained, as well as in developing new production methods and implementing new product processes.

Responsibilities :

  • Design of manufacturing systems with the focus on continuous improvement related to quality and throughput capability of the assembly equipment.
  • Development of process documentation, including process stack sheets, process routings, PFMEAs, process flow diagrams, and error proofing plans.
  • Analysis of proposals for new machinery and equipment.
  • Lead the tryout and evaluation of new machinery and equipment.
  • Provide technical support to plant operations.
  • Develop and implement major Capital Appropriations Projects.
  • Development of cost estimates for new and major programs, often working from early concept cross sections, concept drawings, concurrent engineering discussions, and evolving assumptions.
  • Provides a physical presence in the workplace.
  • Positions involve the design, procurement, qualification and launch of assembly systems in a high volume production setting
  • Support of production systems to include continuous improvement, updates to existing equipment to maintain serviceability
  • Familiarity with torqueing systems, electrical and hydraulic press applications, automatic assembly, error-proofing, vision systems, and robotic applications

Experience :

Education Requirement : Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience

Required :

  • Minimum of 5-10 years' experience required.
  • High level of analytical ability.
  • Good written and oral communication skills, including regular and effective communication across functions and with Senior Management.
  • The ability to work effectively in a cross functional group setting, including work with Senior Management.
  • The ability to work independently, and to coach and mentor others.
  • The ability to multitask.
  • The ability to consider business impact beyond a specific functional area.
  • The ability to provide relevant , essential technical guidance to support Senior Management.
  • CAD proficiency (preferably NX and / or AutoCAD).
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office.
  • An understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
  • Expertise in at least one of the following areas : Machining of rotating components, Machining of prismatic components, Machining of gears, Assembly.
  • An understanding of machine tool specifications, construction and maintenance, including the ability to document this knowledge in RFQ packages and Best Practice documents, and to participate in specification revisions.
  • Experience with statistical qualification of machinery, equipment, and gages, and the ability to improve and document our methods for completing these tasks.

Preferred :

  • Experience in working effectively with hourly employees in a manufacturing environment.
  • Formal problem solving training.
  • Familiarity with QS and TS quality systems requirements.
  • An understanding of lean manufacturing concepts.
  • Specific specialized skills, including CNC programming, CMM programming, nutrunner programming, robotic programming, ladder logic, etc.
  • An understanding of transmission fundamentals.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment in a non-US location, including mentoring and training of non-US persons
  • Experience in implementation of major production launches (entire production lines or plants).

Description

Installs, maintains and repairs electrical circuits, electrical test equipment, special electrical devices, electric motors, etc.

May service and repair complex electrical instruments and equipment.

  • Installs, maintains and repairs machinery power circuits, building lighting circuits, electronically controlled circuits, electrical test equipment, special electrical devices, etc.
  • Lays out, cuts and installs conduit, wires control panels, installs bus bars, connects and disconnects wiring of machine tools, etc.
  • May perform trouble shooting duties to detect cause of malfunction of electrical circuits and computer controlled circuits or equipment and corrects trouble.
  • Uses a variety of hand tools, such as, pliers, screwdrivers, wire cutters and strippers, etc., and test instruments, such as, voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, etc.
  • Installs, adjusts, calibrates, disassembles, cleans, repairs, reassembles and checks a variety of electrical instruments, such as, electro-limit gages, vibration amplifiers, recording gages, timing devices, profilometers, comparators, indicators, submergence sonic testers, pressure and flow gages, relays, thermostats, involute checking machines, torque wrenches, micrometers, recording instruments, and all other electrical equipment of a similar nature.
  • Examines electrical equipment for shorts, grounds, burned-out parts, etc.
  • Improvises setups, operates and adjusts all types of machine tools required to make repair parts, and uses a variety of general hand tools, miscellaneous special tools and, but not limited to, oscilloscopes, tube testers, voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, megacycle meters, etc.
  • May handle parts, gages, and their components manually or with the aid of material handling equipment, and works with delicate instruments which require extreme care.
  • Works from complex schematic and wiring diagrams, written and verbal instructions.
  • Handles all types of electrical equipment manually or with the aid of material handling equipment.
  • May trouble shoot and repair printed circuit boards and use electronic test instruments associated with such repair.
  • Must have completed a formal apprenticeship OR have 8 years of equivalent training to qualify as a Journeyman.
  • Knowledge of electrical test equipment, codes, materials, etc., and know how to read, interpret and work from complex schematic and wiring diagrams.
  • Knowledge of general math including ohms law calculations, resistance, etc.
  • Knowledge of basic electronic components and circuits is most helpful.
  • May be required to work from high ladders, and works with high voltage electricity.

Description

  • Performs a wide variety of plant and facilities maintenance, including ancillary machine equipment repair functions, machine installation, machine movement.
  • Primarily focused on activities supporting the production operations of the company.
  • May be deployed to new construction or new installation if production requirements permit.
  • Dismantles, moves, installs, levels and rearranges machine tools and mechanical equipment. Constructs, installs, dismantles, aligns and repairs general plant equipment such as overhead tracks and hoists, conveyors, etc.
  • Welds a variety of metals, such as cast iron, tool steel, bronze, high carbon and chrome alloy steel, aluminum, sheet metals, brass, etc.
  • Makes adjustment of welding and auxiliary equipment to obtain desired welding characteristics, and performs a variety of duties incidental to, or in conjunction with maintenance welding.
  • Lays out, fabricates, assembles by soldering, brazing, welding, bolting, etc., and repairs ferrous and non-ferrous sheet metal plant equipment such as guards, hoods, air ducts, stacks, hoppers, etc.
  • Operates all types of power sheet metal machines, such as rolls, brakes, punches, presses, drills, spot welders, etc.
  • Operates a variety of tools and equipment associated with the trade including, but not limited to, forklift trucks, material handling equipment, crawlers, hoists, overhead and mobile cranes, block and tackle, rollers, pinch bars, welding and cutting equipment, measuring and leveling equipment and hand tools.
  • Works from blueprints, sketches, written and oral instructions.
  • Must have completed a formal apprenticeship OR have 8 years of equivalent training to qualify as a Journeyman.
  • Must be able to qualify and pass the company truck driver physical examination.
  • Must be able to read, and work from mechanical and architectural blueprints and have knowledge of sheet metal layout and basic math.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of rigging, erecting and fitting of machines and equipment.
  • Must have an extensive knowledge of welding on a variety of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, be familiar with the properties and reactions of these metals during welding and have a knowledge of methods to control warpage and relieve stresses.
  • Must be able to perform heavy lifting.
  • May work from ladders or catwalks high above the floor.
  • Must exercise extreme care to avoid bodily injury to self and others in the lifting and moving of heavy equipment.
  • Must work both inside and outside of building in all kinds of weather.
  • Requires a considerable amount of walking and ladder climbing.
  • Frequently works near rapidly moving machinery.
  • Normal welding conditions involve heat, glare, fumes, etc.
  • Employee required to wear protective clothing and equipment associated with the specific task or assignment.
