Lead Mechanical Engineer

General Job Description :

This position is responsible for independently delivering engineering services, from conceptual design through construction completion.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Complete project planning, coordination, and execution with some oversight
  • Independently complete conceptual design through construction drawing development for multiple small and medium sized standard projects simultaneously
  • Create conceptual designs certified to Building Codes, Energy Codes, and LEED standards
  • Responsible for HVAC calculations, design and layout of equipment, duct and piping systems on assigned projects
  • Solid understanding of applications engineering such as psychrometrics, refrigeration, acoustics, and controls systems
  • Appropriate engagement of engineering applications and / or managers in project decisions
  • Proactively communicate and coordinate project designs with Project Management, Construction and Service departments, Controls, and other trade partners
  • Conduct economic and energy analyses
  • Field engineering : assist with project execution, trade coordination, scheduling, document management and problem solving / troubleshooting, as required
  • Responsible for the quality of design drawings and models
  • Effectively and professionally communicate with colleagues and project team members
  • Manage time to meet project schedules and task deadlines
  • Oversee other design team members to complete project assignments when requested by Manager
  • Strong understanding of ACCO engineering standards and project execution processes
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager

Position Requirements :

  • BS in Engineering or Construction Management
  • Professional Engineer license highly desirable, but not required
  • 3+ years of experience with a Design / Build Mechanical Contractor or consultant
  • Excellent understanding of engineering and design fundamentals
  • Thorough understanding of systems and applications
  • Excellent familiarity with Building Codes and industry standards
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit

Hours :

This is a non-exempt position from Monday through Friday. Work hours begin and end between 7 : 00 am and 5 : 00 pm with one-hour break for lunch and two rest breaks.

Eight hours per day is required and other occasional overtime may be necessary per business needs.

Competitive Wages :

$50.97 to $62.02 per hour. Applicants please note that actual compensation is determined by several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, certifications, relevant education or training, and specific work location, among others.

Job Description

JOB SUMMARY :

Under the daily direction of the Field Operations Coordinator this role is supporting the Plumbing Group field and office operation administrative tasks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

  • Document control (new hire / personnel files / training logs / certificates / etc.)
  • Create, edit, sort, and assemble project specific folders / documents as directed.
  • Maintaining various Google Sheets & excel based workbooks
  • Cross-train to assist and backup administrative tasks as needed.
  • Send and receive correspondence via U.S. mail, Tricor, messenger, U.P.S., Federal Express, etc.
  • Office printing and external printing orders with ACCO printing service vendors
  • Assist in making travel arrangements for the department.
  • Assist with the scheduling of meeting spaces as well as ordering lunches or other needed preparation activities for meetings as needed.
  • Assist with client lunch & learns, presentation preparation and marketing events
  • Help onboard new hires (ordering business cards, uniforms, supplies, etc.).
  • Word-processing, general correspondence, office memos and notifications.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

Collaborate with the Facilities supervisor and notify him of building maintenance items (janitorial, pest control, phones, printers, plotters, internet, IT, equipment etc.

building repair request, requests for access to secure areas including keys, sign-in / out sheets.

  • Monitor and order office (stationary, paper plotter / printer machines, etc.), kitchenette (coffee and water service, cafeteria supplies / utensils) and pipe shop supplies, as needed.
  • Partner with Facilities to maintain Key fob management for the Commerce office.
  • General clerical duties including filing, typing, scanning, photocopying, faxing, sorting and distributing incoming mail, facsimiles, etc.
  • This position will act as ACCO's Director of First Impressions , greeting office visitors, answering incoming telephone calls, and directing visitors / callers in a professional manner reflecting the ACCO brand.
  • Receptionist duties such as answering the telephone in a prompt, friendly, pleasant & professional manner.
  • Forwarding calls to the appropriate person at the Commerce location or directing the caller to the proper office.
  • Transferring of phone calls to the after-hours on-call service agency and vis-versa
  • Keeps track of location personnel (if they are within the office or not) to accurately notify them of calls, visitors, etc.
  • Extensive computer knowledge :
  • Microsoft Office including MS Word and MS Excel Word
  • Able to utilize applications on handheld devices
  • Able to utilize google applications including Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Docs.
  • Internet Provide detailed data searches and online applications (e.g., Fed Ex Delivery and ordering of products).
  • Well organized.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Team player, Goal oriented.
  • Ability to handle pressure and hectic pace.
  • Good written communication skills.
  • Able to communicate effectively over the phone and in person.
  • Experience in the contracting or construction fields preferred, but not required
  • One year of Receptionist and office Admin assistance or equivalent preferred
  • Able to demonstrate strong customer service skills with both internal and external customers
  • High School Diploma (Or equivalent) required.
  • Punctuality is essential to the successful execution of this position.

$15.96 to $19.13 per hour. General Job Description :

This position is responsible for the delivery of engineering services, from conceptual design through construction completion of HVAC, Plumbing, and other contract services offered by ACCO Engineered Systems.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates understanding of a complete construction set of documents and able to execute these projects with little supervision
  • Complete code-required energy compliance and LEED documentation
  • Conduct engineering calculations, energy analysis, economic analysis, selection and layout of equipment, and duct & piping system design for HVAC, Plumbing, and other building systems for which ACCO offers expertise
  • Understanding of applications engineering including psychrometrics, refrigeration, acoustics, and controls systems
  • Assist with coordination of design and installation with Project Management, Construction and Service departments, Controls, and other trade partners.
  • Field engineering : assist with project execution, site surveys, trade coordination, scheduling, document management and problem solving
  • Computer 2D and 3D modeling of HVAC or plumbing systems utilizing the latest modeling software
  • Manage time to meet project schedules and task deadlines
  • Able to delegate and work effectively with BIM support.
  • Can attend small project design meetings on their own and communicate back to project manager.
  • Communicates well with engineering supervision, project management, BIM, and construction departments.
  • Understands the basics of system controls and can write a basic sequence of operation with supervision.
  • Demonstrates understanding of ACCO business drivers for their projects.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager

Position Requirements :

  • BS in Engineering or Construction Management
  • Prior intern experience with mechanical contractor and / or engineering consultant preferred, but not required
  • EIT Certificate highly desirable, but not required
  • Excellent understanding of Engineering fundamentals
