Position Summary & Responsibilities :
Position Summary :
This position is located in Topeka, at the Eisenhower State Office Building, and is within the Bureau of Transportation Planning.
This position prepares traffic forecasts and reviews transportation studies, provides support for the development and review of travel demand models of urban and urbanized areas in Kansas, assists in the review of break-in-access studies in accordance with KDOT and Federal Highway Administration regulations.
The position will occasionally review and develop traffic microsimulation models in Synchro / SimTraffic to analyze operational deficiencies at interchanges / intersections.
This position would have a significant role in the transportation planning processes, corridor studies and economic impact analysis.

Qualifications :
Minimum Qualifications :
- One year of experience in urban / regional planning. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
- Working understanding of the transportation planning process.
- Knowledge of geographic principles and processes including a basic understanding of geographic information systems (GIS).
- Working knowledge in spreadsheets, databases, and other related computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Two or more of years skills related to work with traffic studies and related data and or traffic modeling (macro and micro).
- Knowledge in the elements needed to develop traffic forecasts and conduct and review traffic studies.
Post-Offer / Pre-employment Requirements
Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate required in accordance with Executive Order 2004-03. Buyer planner
CONTRACT-TO-HIRE KCMO BUYER / PLANNER
Shift : Monday to Friday, 8 : 00 AM - 4 : 30 PM
Our Client is seeking a Buyer Planner to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for efficiently planning, purchasing and managing assigned supply points and / or product lines while maintaining high customer service levels.
You will work closely with supervisors to ensure all customer commitment dates are met and release purchase orders for production material as required.
Key Responsibilities :
- Plan, purchase and manage assigned supply points and / or product lines
- Review open customer orders / shop orders and prepare daily production plan
- Release purchase orders for production material as required
- Use inventory replenishment methods to minimize dead or slow moving inventory
- Resolve problems with quality, delivery dates, quantity and invoicing of purchased commodities
- Manage various databases including MRP
- Work with warehouse, manufacturing, customer service, maintenance and shipping teams
- Participate in Quality Improvement Process to resolve problems in the work environment
- Appraise vendors’ performance based on metrics such as on time delivery
Qualifications :
- Minimum Associates Degree (2yr)
- Minimum internship or co-op experience in Purchasing, Material Control or Manufacturing planning

Demand planner
The primary role of the demand planner is to develop a demand forecast. This position is a key driver in managing the customer and consumer demand signals to align commercial and supply chain activity.
This is a critical role in the S&OP process as order fulfillment and inventory plans rely on this information. The demand planner will work using the Blue Ridge planning system and data insights to improve forecast accuracy.
This person is a hands-on worker who will drive the creation of a demand forecast and work with other functional teams to develop a consensus forecast plan.
Job Description
Job Responsibilities :
- Work with commercial teams to develop and manage depletion forecasts for the prescribed future horizon
- Maintain forecasts and all demand planning data, and provide end user training to commercial teams where applicable
- Lead monthly Demand Planning reviews, using all appropriate tools and data with Commercial and Supply Planning, to ensure the forecast is realistic and deliverable
- Coordinate the execution of the forecast plan with Commercial and Customer Services teams, effectively managing any exceptions due to limited supply
- Communicate ongoing forecast changes to stakeholders in the Commercial, Supply Chain and Finance organizations, and, where appropriate, Suppliers’ teams
- Identify and report significant promotional activity; ensuring events and exceptions are reviewed with Commercial, Supply Planning and Customer Services in a timely fashion
- Review and publish forecast accuracy reporting, and identify areas for improvement
- Facilitate training and improvement plans for business users
- Manage the system generated exception reports, to ensure the most up-to-date demand is visible to all stakeholders
- Manage the execution of specific allocations; ensuring these are aligned to Commercial and Finance guidelines
- Participate in the monthly Sales and Operations Planning process by leading the Demand Review and reporting on key metrics and insights
- Publish metric reports according to needs of the business and functional groups
- Create and publish ad-hoc reports as needed
- Participate in the creation of joint supply chain action plans with targeted suppliers
- Participate in the development and implementation of initiatives to improve forecasting performance

Minimum Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Mathematics, or Finance or related field desirable
- Formal training in statistical models and their application is preferred
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in purchasing, logistics, or similar position
- Analytical experience required with knowledge or experience in modeling and / or simulation preferred
- Proficient PC skills using MS Office and other various computer programs including presentation software
- Must be a results-oriented professional with verbal / written communication skills using diplomacy and discretion as well as customer service skills
- Ability to multi-task, work independently and / or within a team, pay attention to detail and meet deadlines
