The Opportunity :
The Electrician II will report to the Facilities Maintenance Superintendent and will be responsible for installing rough in and finished electrical work for university projects.
Projects may be new construction or existing renovations throughout campus.
Responsibilities :
Maintains low and medium voltage components. Performs repair and replacement of electrical installations. Maintains, tests, and calibrates controls, transformers, and self-contained watt hour meters.
Cleans and maintains power distribution equipment, tools, and supplies. Maintains and repairs fire alarm systems. Maintains wiring, power appliances, light machinery, electrical circuits, electrical motors, generators, and other electrical equipment.
Locates and corrects power failures and electrical malfunctions. Makes emergency electrical repairs.
Performs preventative maintenance to all appropriate electrical systems as required for the preventative maintenance program.
Ensures that maintenance requirements for electrical and mechanical systems are initiated for all new equipment and are up to date and correct for existing equipment.
Assists the Managers and Superintendents with maintenance operations.
Complete work orders assigned through the CMMS system. Records labor hours, action codes, shop stocks, and trade notes. Indicates in the trade notes work performed, any special conditions or situation that requires further attention.
Reports any conditions needing attention.
Assists in maintaining a system of internal controls which provide reasonable assurance that unit operations are effective and efficient, unit assets are safeguarded, and the unit complies with applicable laws, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
Works with the appropriate stakeholders and / or leaders to inform and assist in the scheduling of utility and equipment shutdowns and / or area closures required to complete the project.
Maintains committed schedule completion dates and standardized productivity levels. Reports any discrepancies. Reviews all work orders assigned to the zone.
Assists in maintaining and entering accurate data into the CMMS that are related to work status, pertinent details, costs (labor / materials), dates, time, invoices, images, actions performed to correct the issue, etc.
Ensures that all life safety and urgent work orders are responded to in an expedited manner. Demonstrates a keen understanding of the interdepartmental responsibilities and capabilities as well as a familiarization of university and customer needs and goals, in order to guide customers and validate work.
Provides quality checks to ensure products and services produced by the organization meet current UCF standards and adhere to the process guide.
Participates in the unit Quality Assurance (QA) and Audit program. Attend and participate in university, departmental, and unit meetings.
Minimum Qualifications :
Licensed as an electrician in the State of Florida and 3+ years of relevant experience. For applicants who hold a license in another state (Georgia, North Carolina, or California) which has reciprocity with the State of Florida, they will need to apply to the Department of Business and Professional Regulation to get their license approved as a Florida equivalent license.
For those applicants who hold a license in a state in which Florida does not have reciprocity, they will have six months to take the examination.
Position requires a valid Class E driver’s license (regular license). The position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.
Preferred Qualifications :
Working knowledge of trades classifications and functions including tools, materials, and task specific sequencing required for maintenance, sanitation, and repairs.
Ability to comprehend and support all applicable Federal, State, and local safety rules and regulations, including OSHA, Dept.
of Health, and the Bureau of Fire Safety.
Ability to delegate, train, coach, lead, motivate, and ensure cohesiveness in a diverse work environment.
Proficient in using various computer programs including and / or equivalent to Microsoft Office suites and AiM Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Possess a working knowledge of preventative maintenance in areas such as complex electronic and electrical components.
Able to make emergency electrical repairs; use various electrical meters & construct and install power supplies.
