Summary
A delivery driver is responsible to distribute products promptly to our customers. Drivers will transport, select and deliver products to designated customers as directed by immediate supervisor or Warehouse Manager.
Essential Functions

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
A teammate in this job will train side-by-side with a Driver Trainer to acquire the skills necessary to perform the following functions :
- Maneuver tractor into position to attach trailer and handle lines to secure.
- Operates truck in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
- Inspect tractor-trailer equipment for defects pre / post trip and submit DOT inspection report indicating condition.
- Operates Driver Delivery Handheld (DDH), document delivery receipts / product temperatures and exceptions. Inspects trailer to ensure product is secure for undamaged transport of product.
- Rides and trains with Driver Trainer of tractor-trailer to various destinations, gaining knowledge of commercial driving regulations and observing the Driver's skill in starting engine properly, approaching intersections, making turns, backing, parking, and maneuvering vehicle on the road and on customer premises.
- Maintain driver log (Manual or PeopleNet) according to DOT regulations, documenting delivery receipt, product temperatures and exceptions.
- Assists the Driver in unloading trailer and delivering product into customer premises.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Meet eligibility requirements in the McLane Transfer and Promotion Policy.
- Complete training and receive Class A CDL in 6 months or less.
- Ability and willingness to select / load / unload and / or deliver ALL products that may be ordered by McLane customers.

Job Description Summary : Drive Commercial Motor Vehicle (Tractor-trailer) combination, usually long distances, to transport and off-load compressed and liquefied industrial gases to customers or to storage sites in a safe, timely, accurate, and courteous manner.
Perform pre & post trip inspections to identify any maintenance action that may be required and act appropriately if action is needed.
Report all accidents, possible injuries, safety issues, driving citations, and customer complaints to include service interruptions immediately to their supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION / TRAINING
Completion of UTA’s PAID Bus Operator Training / Certification Program, including passing all required exams.
EXPERIENCE
- One year in a customer service role with ability to solve problems and resolve customer inquiries.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Safe driver with a valid driver license and no more than 2 moving violations in the past 3 years.
- No convictions for driving under the influence of alcohol or any drugs within the past 10 years.
- Familiar with the Wasatch Front is preferred but not required.
- Obtain and maintain a Department of Transportation (DOT) medical card (paid by UTA)
- Pass the written Class B CDL test, with Air Brakes and Passenger Endorsement tests prior to the start of the paid training program
- Communicate with supervisors and customers and maintain good interpersonal relations, both orally and over the radio
- Read and understand training materials, operating manuals and operating and safety rules directives
- Prepare legible written reports of incidents and accidents
- Operate any and all passenger buses safely
- Report for assigned shift on time
- Meet schedule demands, scheduled shifts, and scheduled departures
- Perform the physical requirements of the job to include regular walking, floor to waist lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally / carrying up to 15 lbs occasionally, reaching, pushing, pulling, kneeling, crouching, balancing, bending, and prolonged periods of sitting and standing
- This job requires regular and predictable attendance.

Pay Rate : $20.00 / hr training for up to nine (9) weeks. $21.44 / hr after training with guaranteed pay increases every six months for the next five years up to $25.69 / hr
