TRUCK DRIVER - INBOUND
Overview
Dollar General Inbound Truck Drivers are responsible for picking up and delivering product between DCs, rail heads, and / or vendors.
Responsible for safely operating the vehicle and transporting all freight which will include interstate and intrastate deliveries.
Job Details
DUTIES and ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
Transport product in a safe, efficient, and timely manner adhering to all DG specific policies and state and federal regulations.
Transport product between Dollar General DCs and from vendors as needed.
Provide professional customer service to all parties including vendors and distribution employees.
Complete all necessary paperwork and maintain records required under state and federal laws and regulations along with required Dollar General paperwork associated to the work being performed
Ensure operation of the vehicle is in compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations.
KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS :
Available for routine overnight travel
Ability to enter and exit the vehicle's cab numerous times each day
Ability to access and manually release fifth wheel lever and tandem pins which requires horizontal pulling with a force of 100 pounds at a height of 44 inches and pulling with a force of 100 pounds at a height of 38 inches
Ability to install and remove tire chains, hook and unhook trailers, secure freight
Ability to work in severe weather conditions both heat and cold
Qualifications
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Knowledge of all applicable Department of Transportation ( DOT ) Regulations and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
- Meet all standards (medical, safety, etc.) required by the DOT, including any drug / alcohol test

RESPONSIBILITIES
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Operates various types of transit buses in accord with Capital Metro Transportation Authority and our third-party service provider, MV Transportation's policies, directives and procedures and in compliance with Federal and Texas laws and regulations.
- Maintains a working knowledge of current bus routes and stops within the service area as well as the current fare structure and bus pass programs.
- Conducts self in an appropriate manner at all times, while working in a diverse environment, assuring a professional quality of service to all external and internal customers.
- Provides assistance to disabled customers, including assistance in boarding and de-boarding, safely securing wheelchairs and announcing stops.
- Performs various physical duties to successfully complete job responsibilities. These can include but are not limited to, boarding and de-boarding transit buses, operating the wheelchair lift / ramp, assisting mobility impaired passengers board or de-board transit buses, securing wheelchairs using a restraint system, lifting the bike rack, lifting baggage compartment doors as may be required.

Driver
Part-Time Corporate Internship Transportation Specialist
San Juan Diego Catholic High School, just south of downtown Austin, is looking for a part-time transportation specialist to transport students to-and-from their Corporate Internship (work-study) sites.
Routes are approximately 7 : 45 to 9 : 30 am and 3 : 15 to 5 : 15 pm. Extra driving assignments available, including field trips and athletics.
Duties : Operates school vehicle in a safe and efficient manner being attentive to traffic and weather conditions while staying on schedule and ensuring the safety of passengers.
Ensures that their vehicle is operating properly each day by inspecting the brakes, tires and other mechanical components.
Follows all traffic laws and is in compliance with Federal and Texas motor vehicle regulations. Drives all routes exactly as designated in writing.
Responsible for maintaining a safe environment within the bus by enforcing rules of conduct and responding to emergencies.
Maintains daily travel logs including the amount of fuel used and miles driven, which is turned in weekly to the Transportation Coordinator.
Reports all accidents, vehicle damage, and student injuries to the Director of Transportation.
May include light lifting under 40 lbs.
Ministerial Character

Minimum Qualifications :

POSITION OVERVIEW
This position is responsible for driving a school bus on an assigned route, while ensuring students' safety in the school bus.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Education, Licensure, or Certification
High school Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
Must be 21 years of age or older
Minimum of 1 year experience driving a commercial vehicle preferred
Valid Texas Commercial Drivers License Class B with a P and S Passenger endorsement
No record of DWI or convictions for the past 10 years and acceptable driving record according to the Texas Department of Public Safety Standards
Maintain an acceptable driving record while according to the Texas Department of Public Safety Standards while employed with Legacy Traditional Schools
Must pass pre-employment annual State required physical examination
Must pass pre-employment drug / alcohol test
Must read, write, speak and follow written and verbal instructions in English
Must be able to evacuate a school bus
Must be able to operate any size automatic transmission bus

Clean and maintain a clean bus exterior and interior
Fuel the buses
Does related paper work as required (completing and filing), such as time sheets, mileage records, defect sheets, accident forms, etc
Operate communication equipment to communicate with the transportation office.
Follow established procedures and techniques to meet high standards of cleanliness, health and safety and report any conditions that are not correctable to the supervisor immediately.
Report to work in a timely manner as per assigned work schedule
