Requirements and Qualifications
- Arrives to work on time as scheduled in full uniform
- Greets Guests with a warm and friendly manner and acknowledges everyone who comes within 5 feet with a smile
- Provides highest level of service by adhering to all Miller’s Ale House service standards
- Follows the steps of service as defined in the training materials
- Serves alcoholic beverages in accordance with company standards and state alcohol service requirements
- Works directly with other Team Members to ensure all the Guest’s needs are fulfilled in a timely manner
- Ensures bar and menu knowledge to address Guests questions, including food allergy issues
- Ensures proper food handling and sanitation of work areas
- Interacts with Guests to create Ale House Raving Fans
- Maintains a neat and organized bar work areas; to include bar tops and area around the outer bar
- Notifies Management immediately of any potential Guest, Team Member, or operational issue; to include long ticket times
SAFETY & SANITATION
- Washes hands every 30 minutes throughout the shift
- Ensures all food and alcohol is served responsibly and in accordance of company standards and state service requirements
- Maintains clean and sanitized work areas
- Works with Team Members to ensure that safety and sanitation protocol is being executed to company standard
TEAMWORK, SKILLS AND EDUCATION
- Supports other Front of House functions as needed, insuring that everything within the 4 walls of the restaurant is every Team Member’s responsibility
- Positively communicates with other Team Members and Management to keep one another informed
- Possesses communication skills and the ability to work alone as well as with a team
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work with numbers and handle cash
- Possesses basic reading and handwriting skills with ability to operate the restaurant point-of-sale software
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age unless otherwise dictated by state law
- Sets up Team Members for success at shift change by ensuring side work and stations are properly stocked
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The Bartender is expected to be able to perform the job functions with reasonable accommodation. Physical demands include :
- Remain standing for extended periods of time
- Bending, reaching, squatting, lifting, and carrying up to 25 lbs., for short distances
- Ability to work with varying noise levels
- Frequent communication with Managers, Team Members and Guests. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

What's expected and what you'll be up to
- Provide an epic experience for our guests at all times
- Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, liquor brands, beers and non-alcoholic selections available in the assigned outlet
- Maintain complete knowledge of designated glassware and garnishes for each drink
- Maintain complete knowledge of table / seat / station numbers, proper table set ups, room capacity, hours of operation, menus, price range and dress code of assigned outlet
- Competently open and serve wine / champagne bottles
- Fully knowledgeable in standard cocktail recipes, wine lists, spirits, other alcoholic beverages, garnishes and presentations
- Interact with Sailors and provide beverage information, promoting drinks and / or upselling premium brands. They will also suggest alternative cocktails that aren’t visible on the menu
- Ensure that all bar products, equipment and cleaning materials are used in a cost effective manner
- Ensures that Sailor orders are correctly entered into the system and monitors tab for any corrections necessary
- Carries out clear down routines after service and ensures the appearance and condition of all items including glasses and bottles meet Virgin Voyages standards
- Be familiar with all cruise services / features and activations to respond to Sailor inquiries accurately
- Notifies Bar Supervisor of any complaints raised and seeks to resolve
- Mentors junior members of the Bar team and provides training where required
- Ensures that their bar area is properly stocked, set up and ready to open as scheduled
- Responsible for any shortcomings related to inventory, equipment or cash handling
- Ensures compliance with the Company alcohol policy and notifies Bar Supervisor when
- Sailors / Crew are in danger of breaching
