POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Barista at Ole & Steen, you will join a dynamic, fun, and positive workplace bringing Danish pastries and coffee to NYC.

Your main responsibility will be the coffee station, but we work as a team, and everyone is responsible for the quality of the guest experience.

Whether providing a welcoming smile, perfecting the display and sale of our products, ensuring the cleanliness and ambience of our bakery, and making sure everyone has a happy environment to enjoy as a guest or colleague.

Your main responsibilities will be the coffee, but we work as a team and sometimes you must assist in other tasks too.

• Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality
• Available to work flexible hours that includes early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Meet store operating standards and policies
• Engage with and understand our customers, including responding customer needs through clear and pleasant communication
• Available to perform different tasks within the store during each shift
• Exceptional customer service skills
• Ability to learn quickly
• Barista experience is a plus (but not required)

PLACE : Demonstrate cafe pride by making CLEANLINESS and safety a priority.

Work cleanly and safely. Handle hot beverages with care.

Follow all COVID-19 protocols and meet cleanliness standards.

Clean coffee grinder, brewer, and espresso machines.

Organize products on our shelves and restock as necessary

Actively identify any additional safety hazards and escalate to Cafe Leadership.

Complete opening and closing tasks and checklists.

Participate in weekly, monthly and quarterly deep cleans of the cafe.

Proactively maintain and improve the appearance of the Cafe and coffee bar. Sanitize and clean the cafe area as needed throughout the shift.

You have third wave coffee experience

You have minimum 2 years barista experience

JOB DESCRIPTION

Experience : Minimum of 3 years of experience in a comparable position. Professional appearance, (No headphones, hats, or loose pants), excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Role & Responsibilities :

Prepare coffee bar and keep it well stocked with ice, mixers, condiments, napkins, straws, glassware, and utensils.

Protect establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation, safety and organization

Prepare and sell coffee drinks by following recipes and preparation techniques for coffee drinks

Create a positive guest experience by guiding guests through the menu, recommending drinks, etc.

Maintain a thorough understanding of all menu items and is able to answer questions regarding drink items and their preparation

Use Clover quickly and in proper sequence according to standard, receiving and executing coffee bar orders, identifying patrons' needs and special requests

Maintain coffee bar setting by removing empty glasses as completed, replenishing utensils, replenishing beverages, refilling water glasses, being alert to patron spills or other special needs

Ensure consistently clean cups / glasses, bar equipment and working areas

Maintain inventories by replenishing coffee bean supply, maintaining supplies, etc.

Deliver an amazing guest experience

Drive sales and promote the brand

Follow portion guidelines to ensure cost control, while maximizing the Guest experience

Ensure all financial transactions are accurate by operating credit card machines correctly, calculating and returning appropriate change

Must demonstrate ability to operate Clover, make changes, accurately conduct credit card transactions, and account of all monies at the end of each shift
